inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Cimahi Sub-regional Police, West Java, have urged unauthorized members of the public to avoid approaching the landslide site in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, West Java, due to the high potential for further landslides.
Cimahi Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Niko Adi Putra, stated that heavy rain and thick fog continue to lash the foothills of Mount Burangrang, making the area around the landslide still dangerous.
"We have been guarding the area before the incident. Our personnel are on standby, and we are also coordinating with village officials to outreach this message to the people," said Niko on Friday (1/30/2026).
He emphasized that people should not come to the disaster site simply out of curiosity or claiming to be family members of victims without urgent need, as this could potentially cause new casualties.
"We hope people will understand the situation and respect the ongoing evacuation process," he added.
In addition to appealing to residents, Niko also asked the public not to spread unverified information regarding the conditions at the landslide site, as inaccurate information could cause panic.
The presence of unauthorized residents also disrupted traffic around the evacuation post and the West Java Regional Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) post, limiting access for the SAR team and ambulances.
"When so many people came, it was difficult for the SAR team and ambulances to get in and out. Our priority was treating the victims," said Chief Niko.
To date, joint officers continue to secure the landslide area to anticipate the potential for further landslides as the extreme weather has not subsided.
The Cimahi Sub-regional Police reiterated the public's need to comply with this appeal for the safety of all and the smooth running of the evacuation and disaster management process.
