Inp.polri.go.id - Makassar.  Authorities started investigating a fire that destroyed six motorcycles at the parking area of State Special Needs School (SLB) in Tamalate, Makassar, on Monday (21/10/2024).

The motorcycles belonged to university students conducting internships at the school, according to antaranews.com.

"There were no casualties, but six motorcycles were burned. The case is under investigation by the Tamalate Police Office," said Makassar City Sub-regional Police Head of Public Relations Assistant Senior Inspector Wahiduddin, as reported by antaranews.com.

The incident occurred in the morning and involved motorcycles from students of Universitas Negeri Makassar, Universitas Bosowa, and Poltekkes Makassar. Four fire trucks were deployed to the scene and quickly extinguished the flames.

After the fire was under control, forensic investigators from the Makassar Police examined the area to determine the cause.

The school's principal, Andi Hamjan, reported seeing thick smoke rising outside his office and discovered the motorcycles on fire. The incident caused panic among staff and students, with one student fainting after seeing her bike destroyed.

Makassar fire chief Ramli confirmed the fire was contained, preventing further damage.
