Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police is exploring the possibility of an accomplice in the case of suspect RFP alias A, 20-year-old, who stands accused of orchestrating theft through an illegal access modus operandi. "Our investigation is ongoing as there are indications that the suspect did not act alone in the execution of the criminal activity," confirmed Police Senior Superintendent General Ade Safri Simanjuntak, the Director of the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, as quoted from Antara on Friday (25/8/23). He said that the suspect's motive was rooted in economic gain, fulfilling personal needs through the course of the theft operation. Earlier insights shed light on the suspect's modus operandi. Posing as an employee of PT Erajaya, an online marketplace merchant, the suspect sought sales receipt records for mobile phones from a courier company's receipt operator. Subsequently, the suspect engaged an online motorcycle taxi service to retrieve the items. The suspect claimed to be acting on behalf of the buyer, the item's owner, for the purpose of collection. "By presenting the delivery receipt obtained through persuasion to the receipt operator, the suspect successfully obtained the items, including 28 products like the iPhone 14 Pro, MacBook, and iPad, totaling Rp337.458.000," he revealed. The suspect is charged under the Article 30 in conjunction with Article 46, as well as Article 32 in conjunction with Article 48, of Law Number 19 of 2016. These amendments pertain to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE), in addition to potential charges of theft under Article 362 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).
