Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Puncak Sub-Regional Police has launched an investigation into a Crime Scene (TKP) involving a shooting incident allegedly carried out by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB). The victim, identified as Lukman Ahmad, 32-year-old, a civilian, was targeted by the group. Moreover, the police have raised suspicions that the KKB's actions may have triggered a fire, which consumed two residences on the evening of August (23/8/23), around 7.15 PM local time. Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, the Head of Public Relations Division of the Papua Regional Police, emphasized that the meticulous examination of the TKP stands as a pivotal strategy in unveiling the culprits behind the heinous acts and amassing vital evidentiary support. "The TKP investigation was conducted on Friday (25/8/2023) around 11.15 local time. The objective is to gather information, discern clues, procure evidence, ascertain suspect identities, and record statements from witnesses and victims for the advancement of the ongoing investigation," he said in a written statement on Friday (25/8/23). He confirmed that among the casualties of the incident were two residences owned by the Chief of Illaga District, and another belonging to a civil servant within the Puncak Regency. Therefore, the earlier circulating information regarding a fire engulfing the Deputy Regent's residence has been deemed a hoax. "There were no casualties or fatalities due to the fire incident. The situation remained under control throughout the TKP investigation. The police have secured multiple pieces of evidence which will be taken to the Puncak Sub-Regional Police Headquarters for investigation purposes," he said. (ay/hn/nm)
