Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The request for supervision in a case involving allegations of extortion by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leadership against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, made by a collaborative team of investigators from the Sub-Directorate of Corruption Crime within the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police and the Corruption Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP), is awaiting a response from KPK.
"We are waiting for a response from KPK," said Senior Superintendent Ade Safri Simanjuntak, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police, during an evening press briefing on Tuesday(24/10/2023).
Ade Safri explained that they have urged the KPK Supervisory Council to appoint the Deputy of the KPK Supervisory Division to oversee the handling of the alleged extortion case by the KPK's leadership.
"The investigators have officially submitted a letter to the KPK Supervisory Council, requesting an expedited and facilitated supervision of the case. This request encourages the KPK leadership to assign the Deputy of the KPK Supervisory Division to monitor the case's progress," Ade said as quoted by antaranews.com.
Firli, who served as a witness in this case, underwent questioning for seven hours at the INP Criminal Investigation Bureau in Jakarta on Tuesday. Director Ade disclosed that during the interview, Firli confirmed that he met the former Minister in March 2022.
To date, the joint investigative team has interviewed a total of 54 witnesses in connection to this case.
