inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Women and Children Protection and Human Trafficking Director of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Nurul Azizah, encouraged the students of Asshidiqqiyah Islamic Boarding School to speak up in facing all forms of violence.
During the Ngabuburit Bersama Santri at the boarding school, Nurul emphasized the importance of creating a safe and comfortable Islamic boarding school environment for students. According to her, Islamic boarding schools, as religious-based educational institutions, have a major role in shaping the character and morals of the younger generation and they must be free from all forms of violence and exploitation.
“You are the next generation of our nation and you have to grow in a safe and comfortable environment. If you see or feel something is not right, then you have to rise and speak up!,” calls Nurul.
In a police effort against women and child violence, Nurul introduced her party’s movement of “RISE AND SPEAK” which aims to encourage the student to dare revealing any kinds of abuse and rights violations against them.
“Do not fear to rise against injustice. Islam taught us to be a strong individual that rise up to defend what is right,” says Nurul.
She continues to note that it is important to raise awareness in reporting any kinds of violence they saw or experienced.
“If there are things that make you uncomfortable or see your friends are in trouble, then speak up! Your voice can save you and the others,” Nurul adds.
This event is expected to be the first step in strengthening synergy between the police, Islamic boarding schools, and various related parties to create a safer educational environment.
