inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police officially launched Operation Pekat Jaya 2026 ahead of Ramadan. This operation aims to crack down on street crime and acts of thuggery.
"The main objective of Operation Pekat Jaya 2026 is to create a safe and conducive public order and security situation, so that the public can carry out their daily activities and worship during the holy month of Ramadan in an orderly, comfortable, and solemn manner," explained Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, Wednesday (1/28/2026).
Operation Pekat Jaya will run from January 28 to February 11, 2026. A total of 675 personnel are involved in the operation.
"Through this operation, the police will firmly enforce the law against various forms of thuggery, street violence, and other crimes. However, every action in the field must be carried out professionally and proportionally, in accordance with procedures," he explained.
Asep added that the personnel on duty will guard areas prone to crime and brawls. He has also mapped vulnerable areas, including the Manggarai and Basuki Rachmat street.
"Later, we will focus on the jurisdictions of Central Jakarta and East Jakarta, which are frequently affected, including South Jakarta. We will deploy monitoring posts and mobile joint patrols in these border areas," he said.
Furthermore, police will also be proactively visiting schools and advising students not to engage in brawls. Cyber patrols will also be stepped up to ensure Jakarta's safety.
