inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police apologized to the public regarding the misarrest of an old-fashioned ice cream seller in the Kemayoran area of Central Jakarta. The apology was issued following an inaccurate perception that developed among the public.
The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, stated that the actions taken by personnel in the field were intended to provide education and ensure public safety. However, he understands that these measures may lead to differing perceptions among the public.
"We, from the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, apologize if the actions taken by our personnel have caused negative or inaccurate perceptions. The goal is to provide education," he explained on Wednesday (1/28/2026).
Budi emphasized that the Indonesian National Police (INP) never intended to disrupt or hinder community businesses, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He confirmed that the police are committed to supporting the community's economic activities so that they continue to operate safely and healthily.
"The police have never disrupted or hindered community MSME businesses. However, we understand the disappointment of the public about this current issue," he said.
Budi added that the Professional and Security Division of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police has conducted an in-depth investigation into the incident. The investigation is currently underway to determine whether any personnel violated ethics, authority, or procedures.
"We are open to evaluation and will follow up professionally," he said.
