Police Medical Team Deployed to Support Public Affected by Mount Sinabung Volcanic Activity

inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra. The North Sumatra Regional Police has mobilized to assist residents affected by the eruption of Mount Sinabung in Karo Regency. In addition to deploying personnel for security and field response, the North Sumatra Regional Police deployed a Medical and Health Team to provide healthcare services to the community.

The eruption of Mount Sinabung occurred on Monday (8/31/2026) at approximately 10:17 a.m. Since then, police personnel have been on standby to assist the community and support emergency response in the affected area.

Head of Public Relations for the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ferry Walintukan, stated that the Medical Team was deployed alongside mobile brigade personnel to provide healthcare and medical assistance to residents near the eruption site.

"Yes, in addition to mobile brigade personnel from the North Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit, we also deployed a Health Team from the North Sumatra Regional Police's Medical and Health Division," Ferry said on Tuesday (9/1/2026).

According to Ferry, the presence of health workers on the site is part of the North Sumatra Regional Police's response to ensure that affected communities continue to receive services, especially those requiring examinations and treatment.

In addition to the Health Team, the North Sumatra Regional Police also deployed personnel from the Mobile Brigade Corps, the Directorate o fUniformed Regular Police Corps, and the Communications Team. Several vehicles and supporting equipment were also brought to strengthen the response on the ground.

The North Sumatra Regional Police also prepared a public kitchen to help meet the needs of affected communities, especially those who had to leave their homes and were in evacuation centers.
