Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.- In an effort to ensure the safety of the final presidential debate for the 2024 election, the Central Jakarta Police deployed mounted officers, locally known as Turangga, and K-9 units at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta Pusat on Sunday (4/2/2024)
"Four mounted police officers are stationed in ring two, around the lobby and entrance of JCC, to ensure security during the debate until its conclusion," Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro, the Chief of the Central Jakarta Police, said.
The mounted officers, astride horses, patrolled the JCC area. A combined force of military, police, the General Election Commission (KPU) security officers, and Jakarta administration officersl also guarded ring one, the debate's primary area, antaranews.com reported.
Dozens of motorbike police patrolled ring three, the outermost sector of entrances leading to the GBK area and parking pockets, Chief Susatyo said,
"All units, including mounted police, motorized units, and even several K-9s, are deployed to strengthen security, conducting searches to prevent the presence of narcotics or explosives," he said,
Since 4.15:15 pm, dozens of fully-uniformed police officers have been safeguarding entrances and vehicle access points leading to the debate location. The security measures included the preparation of supporters from the candidates gathering in ring two.
A total of 2,992 combined personnel were deployed to secure the last presidential debate for the 2024 election organized by KPU.
