Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Semarang City Sub-regional Police have named ten suspects in the case of an illegal casino located on Puri Anjasmoro Raya Street, Semarang, Central Java.

"Out of 12 suspects detained during the raid, 10 have been named as suspects," said Senior Superintendent Irwan Anwar, the Chief of Semarang Police, on Monday (23/10/2024).

The suspects are believed to have various roles, including investors, supervisors, dealers, administrators, CCTV operators, and security personnel, according to antaranews.com.

During the operation at the Babyface karaoke venue, police seized evidence, including cash amounting to Rp 1.3 billion.

Chief Irwan explained that The money was intended to cover the casino's operational costs for a week. The establishment had initially opened on 29 August 2024, but was ordered to close shortly afterward. However, it resumed operations on 16 September 2024, only to be raided by police on 20 September 2024.

According to the casino's operators, customers learned about the venue through word of mouth, and many guests traveled from outside Semarang.

The suspects face charges under Article 303 of the Criminal Code on gambling.
