Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto said on Monday (23/9/2024) that some leaked tax identification number (NPWP) data does not match the original owners.
"These discrepancies likely stem from data obtained across various cities and districts," he explained during a meeting with Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR).
Minister Hadi assured that the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) is working to validate the leaked data, which includes the National Identity Card (NIK) numbers, NPWP, and phone numbers. The Ministry of Finance is also investigating the breach, according to antaranews.com.
In response to the situation, a cross-ministerial meeting will be held soon to discuss solutions and mitigation strategies.
The government has implemented short-term measures to address these data leaks, including establishing the Personal Data Protection Agency, as mandated by the Personal Data Protection Law.
The NPWP leak was revealed by Teguh Aprianto, the founder of Ethical Hacker Indonesia, who shared that six million records were being sold on Breach Forums for Rp 150 million.
Other compromised data includes NIKs, addresses, and email addresses.
