Inp.polri.go.id - Gresik. Gresik Sub-regional Police have named on Tuesday (21/11/2024) eight people as suspects in the clash between supporters and security authorities following the Gresik United vs. Deltras FC football match at the Gelora Joko Samudro Stadium
"These supporters damaged stadium facilities and threw stones and wood at security officers, resulting in injuries to 10 police officers," Gresik Police Chief Superintendent Adhitya Panji Anom was quoted by antaranews.com as saying.
Four of the eight suspect are minors who are subject to legal proceedings.
They were declared suspects after the East Java Regional Police Criminal Investigation Directorate and Gresik Police conducted field investigations, interviewed witnesses, collected CCTV footage and other evidence.
Chief Adhitya explained that the riot was sparked by the disappointment of supporters who wanted to protest to the management after their beloved team lost 2-1 to Deltras FC.
"Officers arrested 15 people suspected of involvement, leading to the identification of eight suspects during the case presentation," he added.
The four suspects have been charged under Article 170, Paragraph 2, Subparagraph 1e of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years' imprisonment. They have also been charged under Article 160 of the Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of six years' imprisonment; and Article 214 of the Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of seven years' imprisonment.
