Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Inspector General Prof. Dr. Dedi Prasetyo, the Assistant to the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) for Human Resources, called on enhancing the role of public relations at an event on optimizing digital media management by the INP PR Division to support the peaceful elections in 2024.
Speaking on Tuesday (21/11/2023), he highlighted the challenges ahead for the INP PR Division emphasising the need to maximise potential, prevent vulnerabilities and improve responsiveness.
"The INP PR Division must continuously provide digital literacy to the public in order to improve social knowledge," General Dedi said in his speech in Jakarta.
He also said that the INP PR Division personnel must be on standby 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Coordination with regional police must also be strengthened to ensure a comprehensive prevention and response effort.
"The hope is that by increasing unity to build Indonesia, everything should run smoothly, truly safe, honest and good," the two-star general added.
As he asserted, the INP PR Division must recognize that its role in the 2024 election goes beyond preventing and responding to negative content on social media.
"The INP headquarters, through its PR Division, must also engage with community leaders to work together to protect and ensure the neutrality, security and peace of the 2024 elections," said Genearl Dedi.
In conclusion, he noted that the INP PR Division should also establish communication with the media to build confidence that the public will be safe throughout the election process.
