Police Praised Public Actions in Thwarting Aggravated Theft in Lampung

inp.polri.go.id - Lampung. Lampung Regional Police, appreciate the arrest made by residents against motorcycle theft in Pesawaran Regency who was then handed over to the police as conveyed by the Head of Public Relations of Lampung Police.

The aggravated theft that occurred in the parking lot of Alfamart, Bernung Village, Gedong Tataan District, Pesawaran Regency, Friday (22/8) afternoon was caught by civilians who were around the location and then a chase was carried out against the perpetrator.

"The theft occurred at around 18.00 WIB when the victim, Akmal Fikriawan (21), parked his motorbike in front of Alfamart and was hanging out with his friend. Suddenly an unknown woman notified him about his motorcycle that was about to be taken away by the thief," said the Head of Public Relations of Lampung Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Yuni Iswandari Yuyun on Monday (8/25/2025).

The victim and witnesses immediately gave chase and managed to catch the perpetrator by putting their arms around his neck. Local residents then coordinated with the Tekab 308 Presisi Pesawaran Police to secure the suspect.

The perpetrator is known as AT (33), a farmer from Rulung Raya Village, Natar District, South Lampung Regency.

"In addition to securing the suspect, the police also confiscated a number of pieces of evidence in the form of a black bag, a T-shaped key, two socket bits, a dagger knife, a screwdriver, pliers, and a pistol-shaped lighter," he explained.

In being held responsible for his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning aggravated theft. Currently, the suspect and evidence have been secured at the Pesawaran Sub-regional Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.

"We appreciate the quick response and participation of the community who helped thwart this crime," he stressed.
