Police Provides Aid for Badak Street Fire Victim

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. South Sumatra Regional Police, Inspector General Andi Rian Ryacudu Djajadi distributes aid to fire victims on Badak street, East Lorong, Mamajang District, Makassar City, on Friday (10/4/2024). The aid was distributed through AR7 Team member, Fahrianto Ahmad.

Cash aid was distributed to 11 houses affected by the fire disaster.

"This aid is from the South Sumatra Police Chief who once served as the South Sulawesi Police Chief," said Fahrianto.

It is known that 11 semi-permanent houses were completely burned down on Badak Street, East Lorong, Mamajang District, Makassar City on Friday.

Head of the Makassar City Fire and Rescue Service, Hasanuddin, said that the exact cause of the fire was not yet known.

"Initial data shows that 11 houses burned down, the cause is still being investigated by the police," said Hasanuddin.

He continued, in the incident, his party deployed 19 fleet units.

“We sent 19 units of firefighters and six rescue teams for the disaster," he explained.

The fire is suspected to be due to a short circuit in the electrical current originating from one of the residents' houses. Sparks appeared at around 13:40 pm, and immediately spread quickly to several other buildings.

The fire was only successfully extinguished after about two hours. As a result of the fire, losses were estimated to reach hundreds of millions of rupiah and 96 people affected by the fire were forced to evacuate to other residents' houses.
