Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) officers have recovered the body of a television journalist, who went missing after a National Search and Rescue (Basarnas) speedboat exploded during a rescue operation in Ternate.
The body was found Saturday morning (8/2/2025) in East Bacan, Suth Halmahera, wearing a black shirt labeled WAPENA MALUKU UTARA. Authorities are now verifying its identity.
"We are conducting identification by matching physical features and personal belongings," said Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, the INP Public Relations Division Head of Public Information Bureau, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The family of Sahril, the journalist, is currently traveling to South Halmahera, to verify the body. The remains have been taken to RSUD Labuha regional hospital for forensic examination, including dental records and distinguishing marks.
The speedboat fatal explosion occurred during an operation to rescue missing fishermen.
