inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Presidential Spokesperson Prasetyo Hadi said that the Indonesian National Police (INP) is actively cracking down on acts of thuggery, starting from groups disguised as community organizations to those formal organizations.
Prasetyo, who is currently the Minister of State Secretary, explained that the forms of thuggery are diverse, both organized and unstructured.
"So this thuggery also comes in various forms. Starting from those wearing ties to those not wearing anything," he continued.
He emphasized that eradicating thuggery is a shared responsibility to create public order and support a conducive business climate.
According to him, various forms of thuggery at all levels can disrupt investment stability and public order.
"All parties must realize that acts of thuggery at all levels and all types of variations will disrupt the investment climate and disrupt public order," said Prasetyo.
In a period of 9 days from 1-9 May 2025, INP managed to uncover 3,326 cases of thuggery in various regions of Indonesia, including the arrest of three Cilegon City Chamber of Commerce officials who were suspected of extorting money from a company by asking for a project worth IDR 5 trillion.
Meanwhile, Metro Jaya Regional Police have arrested 2,406 people related to the development of Operation Berantas Jaya 2025 which has been carried out for eleven days or from 9 May to 20 May 2025.
The people arrested were individuals, members of mass organizations, debt collectors and perpetrators of brawls who were members of several motorcycle gangs.
