inp.polri.go.id - Medan. Class I Special TPI Medan Immigration stopped the departure of nine non-procedural hajj pilgrims at Kuala Namu International Airport, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.
The nine hajj candidates with the initials RBN (37), YN (36), PA (34), LRS (26), LAA (46), IS (35), UH (38), EP (33), LI (24) are residents of Cirebon Regency, Palopo City and Makassar City.
"Two of them claimed to be travel agents who brought seven other people to perform the hajj using work visas," said Head of Class I Special TPI Medan Immigration Office Uray Avian in an official statement in Medan, Friday (5/23/2025).
Uray said this action clearly violated the regulations as the hajj pilgrims must use a visa that is in accordance with its designation.
For that, he said, following up on the findings, Kuala Namu Airport immigration officers postponed the departure of all passengers suspected of going to perform the hajj pilgrimage non-procedurally.
"We urge the public to be more vigilant against offers to depart for the hajj through unofficial channels. Using official channels can ensure the safety, comfort, and legal protection of Indonesian citizens who will depart for the hajj," said Uray.
He added that the failure of the departure of the nine non-procedural hajj candidates began when immigration officers became suspicious of the passengers because they gave inconsistent information during the interview process at the inspection counter at Kualanamu Airport.
"Some claimed to be going on vacation to Malaysia, while others claimed to be going to work. We immediately followed up on this discrepancy with further examination," he said.
From the results of further examination, it was found that all passengers had the same flight tickets, but did not know each other. This fact strengthens the suspicion that their departure was arranged by a third party.
