inp.polri.go.id - Palangka Raya - The Central Kalimantan Regional Police held a welcoming ceremony for personnel under Operational Control (BKO), consisting of 10 personnel from the National Police's Health Center and 200 Mobile Brigade personnel from the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police, to strengthen forest and land fire management.
This was conveyed by Central Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Iwan Kurniawan, while addressing the media after a readiness ceremony for handling forest and land fires at Barigas Field, at the local Police Headquarters, Saturday (10/17/2026).
"Ladies and gentlemen, on the orders of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, today the Central Kalimantan Regional Police received BKO personnel consisting of 200 Mobile Brigade personnel from the NTB Regional Police, as well as 10 personnel from INP's Health Center to optimize forest and land fire management efforts throughout Central Kalimantan," said Iwan.
Iwan explained that the 200 personnel will reinforce the already deployed Forest and Land Fire Task Force, but will prioritize six areas with high levels of vulnerability.
"The plan is for these Brimob personnel from NTB to assist or reinforce the already deployed task force, prioritizing six areas with high levels of forest and land fire management, such as Palangka Raya, Pulang Pisau, Kapuas, Katingan, West Kotawaringin, and East Kotawaringin," he explained.
Iwan revealed that although it has rained in Central Kalimantan in the past few days and the main fire has been successfully extinguished, the task is not yet complete.
"The crucial stage now is wetting and cooling the vast peatlands to prevent the fires from rekindling," he explained.
Iwan cited several hotspots that have been successfully contained, such as Tjilik Riwut Km. 39, Km. 21, 23, Palangka Raya, and Tumbang Nusa, Pulang Pisau, which are currently undergoing intensive wetting.
To maintain the health of personnel in the field, 10 personnel from the Indonesian National Police's Health and Medical Center will establish health service posts and oxygen houses.
"At each of these locations, we will also be assisted by the Health and Medical Center to provide health care for personnel on duty and to provide services to the public in need. They will establish oxygen houses, which can be used by the public and personnel," concluded Iwan.
