The Tangerang Sub-regional City Police and the Banten Regional Police, through their Water and Air Unit, are conducting searches and monitoring in their jurisdictional waters.

The search extends to the waters bordering Serang Regency, from Cangkir Island to the Serang Regency maritime border.

Tangerang Sub-regional City Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Andi Muhammad Indra Waspadalah Amirullah, stated that the monitoring is being conducted to expedite the search in waters.

"We continue to monitor our waters. As of the situation, the waters are safe," said Andi, in Tangerang on Monday (9/14/2026).

Based on the results of the search in the Tangerang City Sub-regional Police jurisdiction to the Serang maritime border, officers have not found any signs of the five journalists reported missing.

Although the incident occurred in Pandeglang waters, the authorities continue to monitor the waters under its jurisdiction. This measure is a form of preparedness and concern for the safety of people engaged in maritime activities.

Indra explained that weather and water conditions are among the factors being continuously monitored by officers. This is especially true following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau and the continued presence of people engaged in maritime activities.

"We urge people engaging in maritime activities to remain aware of weather and sea conditions and to follow information and directions from authorities," he said.

The Tangerang Sub-regional City Police ensures that security and public order in its waters remain conducive. Monitoring will also continue as a preventative measure to anticipate developments in the maritime situation.

These efforts also demonstrate police support for the search for the five journalists whose whereabouts are still unknown.
