inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Search and Rescue (SAR) team from the Pioneer Battalion A Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police assisted in the firefighting operation that engulfed the Asemka Market area, Roa Malaka, Tambora, West Jakarta, on Monday (9/14/2026).
The fire broke out in a textile warehouse and spread to several shophouses in the surrounding area. To support the extinguishing process, Brimob personnel deployed an Armored Water Cannon (AWC) along with firefighters.
"An AWC unit was deployed to support the firefighting efforts, along with firefighters," he said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday (9/14/2026).
When Brimob personnel arrived at the scene, the fire had been extinguished around 4:00 PM. Personnel then assisted in the cooling process and monitored the surrounding area to ensure there were no hotspots that could spark a re-ignition.
The Mobile Brigade Corps Commander of Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Senior Superintendent Henik Maryanto stated that personnel preparedness is part of efforts to provide a rapid response to various incidents requiring on-site handling, including fires.
"Any information from the public must be followed up immediately. Personnel in the field also continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure the situation remains safe and under control," he said.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. The fire affected a textile warehouse and several shophouses around the Asemka Market area.
There were no fatalities or injuries in the incident. After the cooling process was completed, the situation around the fire site was observed to be safe and under control.
Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, urged the public to be more aware against potential fires, especially those caused by problems with electrical installations.
"We urge the public to ensure the condition of electrical installations remains safe and to immediately report any emergencies so they can be handled quickly," Budi said.
