Inp.polri.go.id - Cianjur. The Cianjur Sub-regional Police have warned on Thursday (1/1/2026) motorists to remain alert as dense fog continues to blanket the Puncak area of West Java during the New Year holiday, significantly reducing visibility and increasing accident risks. 

The warning was issued after heavy rain and thick fog were reported along the main Puncak–Cianjur route.

“Visibility is down to around five to ten meters, so drivers must keep a safe distance and turn on their headlights at all times,” said Cianjur Traffic Police Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Hardian Andrianto, as cited by antaranews.com.

He said traffic volumes had surged to nearly 1,000 vehicles per hour during the holiday peak, prompting situational traffic engineering, including one-way systems coordinated with Bogor Sub-regional Police. Temporary road closures were also applied on New Year’s Eve to prevent total congestion.
