inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is targeting energy self-sufficiency by 2029 at the latest, given Indonesia's vast resource potential.
"Our target is energy self-sufficiency by the end of 2029, at the latest. If possible earlier, we will work quickly," said President Prabowo while inspecting the renovation of facilities at Cilacap High School 1, Central Java, on Wednesday (4/29/2026.
Monitored online from Jakarta, the President stated that Indonesia has enormous energy resource potential.
The Head of State specifically highlighted this natural wealth as a great gift that must be optimally utilized for the welfare of the people.
"God has given us abundant resources. It's up to us whether we manage them properly, whether we have the courage to safeguard them," Prabowo explained.
However, the Head of State reminded us that this potential will be meaningless without proper management and a strong commitment to safeguarding it, as proper management can protect Indonesia from global conflicts of interest.
Prabowo added that countries rich in natural resources are often the targets of international conflicts of interest. To avoid this potential, Indonesia must be able to manage its wealth optimally for the sake of the national interest.
"It's natural that a wealthy country is targeted by many parties," said Prabowo.
On that occasion, the President also stated the government's commitment to improving all schools across the country, with a target of 288,000 schools undergoing renovation by 2028.
