“I am so happy today as I am attending this event, the inauguration of Silaturahim Tunnel between Istiqlal Mosque and the Cathedral Church. This tunnel will and is a symbol of harmony and tolerance between the two faiths,” says President Prabowo in his remarks.

President Prabowo conveys that Indonesia has unique and amazing characteristics where the country is so diverse yet remains united.

Indonesia can be united, continued Prabowo, due to their shared vision and goal in achieving a bright future that will bring happiness to all.

He also observed that the construction of the Istiqlal Mosque was not only carried out next to the Cathedral Church, but was also designed by an architect who was a Christian, which also showed harmony.

The Istiqlal-Cathedral Silaturahim Tunnel is 28.3 meters long, 3 meters high, and 4.1 meters wide.

This tunnel is called the Silaturahim Tunnel because it is designed to facilitate visitors from both places of worship, the Istiqlal Mosque and the Cathedral Church, so that they can easily connect to each other.

The name Silaturahim Tunnel reflects its main purpose to strengthen interfaith relations through more direct and practical access.
