inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Boven Digoel Sub-regional Police are still investigating the burning of the Regional Employment Agency (BKD) Office that occurred on Wednesday (12/11/2024). The fire started when 20 people were protesting at the BKD office and vandalizing the office.
“The people protested because of them unsatisfied with the results of The Basic Competency Selection Test (SKD) for the Prospective Private Civil Servants (CPNS) recruitment,” says the Head of Papua Regional Police Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo.
Not long after, the fire quickly spread and burned down the entire building, causing major damage to the building structure.
“The Boven Digoel Sub-regional Police currently is on guard at the Regent Office along with Mobile Brigade Assigned Personnel to anticipate and continue to coordinate with the Regional Government to calm the public,” says Benny.
On the other hand, the Head of Boven Digoel Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Wisnu Perdana Putra said that his partner is negotiating with the public in front of the regent office. Other personnel are also on guard at the location to anticipate escalation.
“Currently, the perpetrators and provocateurs have been arrested by the police and will be sentenced firmly,” said Benny.
