Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. Preacher Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman, also known as Gus Miftah, has stepped down from his position as President Prabowo Subianto's Special Envoy for Religious Harmony and Infrastructure Development.
Speaking at a press conference at Ora Aji Islamic Boarding School in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Friday (6/12/2024), he said, “This decision comes after deep reflection and prayer. It is not a retreat but a step forward to serve the nation in broader and more meaningful ways.”
Miftah clarified that his resignation was entirely his own decision, driven by respect, love, and a sense of responsibility toward the president and the Indonesian people.
“Public service isn’t confined to a title; it’s about benefiting others in any capacity,” he said.
Preacher Miftah thanked President Prabowo for trusting him with the role, recalling his humble background. He also apologized for any unmet expectations, adding, “I have learned valuable lessons from the president’s leadership.”
The resignation followed public scrutiny after a viral video showed Gus Miftah allegedly mocking a street vendor during a religious event. He made no direct reference to the incident in his statement.
