Inp.polri.go.id - Beijing.  President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo convinced Chinese business leaders about the stability in Indonesia despite the 2024 elections. "Don't worry about the 2024 elections because Indonesia has implemented five direct elections. You don't need to worry, you just need to hurry, " he said while adddressing the Indonesia-China Business Forum in Beijing, China, on Monday (16/10/2023).. During the event participated by 200 Chinese and 100 Indonesian business representatives, President Jokowi underscored Indonesia's appeal for investment, citing its consistent economic growth surpassing 5 percent, a 41-month consecutive trade surplus, 25 months of continuous expansion in the Purchasing Managers Index, and an imminent demographic peak in the 2030s, antaranews.com reported. "Indonesia maintains steadfast socio-political stability, presenting an investment prospect mutually advantageous for both Indonesia and China," President Jokowi said. He said  that cooperation between the two nations should be equitable and yield returns for both parties. "For Indonesia, collaboration should be mutually beneficial or 'cuan qian' (generate profit). Without 'cuan' (profit), investors will be disinclined to come to Indonesia. Once again, it must be mutually 'cuan qian'," President Jokowi said. During the event, 31 Indonesian and Chinese companies signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), including agreements in the fields of batteries and electricity. Following the event, ActingCoordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Erick Thohir, who also serves as Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, said that Indonesian state-owned enterprises had also signed MoUs.
