Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo underscored the crucial role of rural development, a cornerstone of the Indonesian Muslim Brotherhood's (Parmusi) mission.
"Rural development is paramount in line with the government's commitment to prioritize peripheral progress," said President Jokowi during the inaugural ceremony of the 2023 Madani Village Dai Parmusi National Jamboree at the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park in Cianjur Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (26/9/2023).
The President affirmed that the government's dedication to village advancement is demonstrated by allocating IDR 539 trillion for 74.800 villages nationwide until 2023.
Furthermore, he noted that this allocation has led to the construction of 326.000 kilometers of village roads, 6.400 village ponds for irrigation, and 14.000 village markets.
"If these facilities are not realized, it indicates a significant mishandling of funds. To address this, I will instruct the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to conduct an evaluation, as villages receive an annual allocation ranging from IDR 1 to 2 billion. Failure to execute necessary infrastructure will lead to the arrest of the village head," asserted President Jokowi.
In recognition of their vital role in village development, the President commended the active contributions of preachers. He also acknowledged their efforts in enhancing human resources, particularly in instilling good character and morals within villages.
He believed that the contributions of preachers will yield tangible benefits to the government's infrastructure development efforts.
"Our primary mission is the optimal utilization of the resources we allocate to villages. Preachers play a pivotal role in advancing human resource development, especially in nurturing character and morality among village residents," the President said.
