Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Air Pollution Control Task Force targets the East Jakarta area due to its high concentration of industries, recognizing its potential to significantly contribute to stationary emission sources within the city. Asep Kuswanto, Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH), emphasized the taskforce's vigilant oversight of industrial chimneys, stating on Tuesday (26/9/23), "The taskforce is closely monitoring industrial chimneys that have the potential to release harmful pollutants into Jakarta's air, and the taskforce's operation is targeting the East Jakarta area." The Jakarta Provincial Air Pollution Control Task Force, comprising the DLH, the East Jakarta Environmental Agency, the Metro Jaya Regional Police, conducted a follow-up monitoring operation on factory chimneys in East Jakarta. This routine effort aims to collect data and regulate air pollution stemming from stationary sources in the DKI Jakarta area. Special attention is given to industries still reliant on coal fuel in their operations, notably in industrial zones like East Jakarta and North Jakarta. Particularly for the East Jakarta, Jakarta DLH's Air Quality Monitoring Station (SPKU) reveals that the area exhibits the highest average Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) compared to other regions. "We must closely monitor all industries, especially those still reliant on coal, to ensure compliance with the DKI Provincial Government's low emission target by 2030," Asep emphasized. "If violations are substantiated, we will impose sanctions, up to and including revocation of environmental permits," he added. The Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) enforces sanctions through its Supervision and Law Enforcement Division (PPH) and Environmental Supervisory Officers (PPLH), following the Decree issued by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency Number e-0126/2023, which outlines the Application of Administrative Sanctions of Government Coercion. During a working meeting with Commission IV of the House of Representative in Jakarta on Thursday (8/31), Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar disclosed that 351 industries, including diesel power plants, contribute to air pollution in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area. The Ministry has been tasked with overseeing 161 priority industries since August 28, 2023, with the goal of completing the process within five weeks. The Ministry has previously taken action by closing 11 chimneys emitting smoke in Lubang Buaya, East Jakarta, and Bantar Gebang, West Java. The Jakarta Provincial Air Pollution Control Task Force Team inspected two facilities involved in processing palm oil and its derivatives. Among them was PT SMMI, a palm oil processing firm located in East Jakarta, visited by the team on Thursday (9/21). Additionally, on Wednesday (19/09), the DLH closed the chimney of the steel smelter PT Jakarta Central Asia Steel in Cakung, East Jakarta, for failing to meet environmental standards. Previously, The DLH enforced the suspension of business operations for two coal warehousing and stockpile companies located in North Jakarta, specifically PT Trada Trans Indonesia and PT Tans Bara Energy, on Wednesday (8/30).
