President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has said that he has not yet decided who will be the new Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights  to replace Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, also known as Eddy Hiariej, who has been declared a suspect in a graft and gratification case. Jokowi had signed a presidential decree on the dismissal of Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej on 7 December 2023, antaranews.com reported. The signing of the presidential decree came after Eddy submitted his resignation letter to President Jokowi through the State Secretariat on Monday, 4 December 2023. Meanwhile, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly said the decision to appoint a new deputy minister to replace Eddy was up to President Jokowi. "It's the president's business, not ours (mine). We are ready to follow orders," he said a. The post of Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights has been vacant since the resignation of Eddy, and the President is expected to make an announcement on the appointment in the near future.
