President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo arrived at Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in the early hours of Tuesday (19/12/23), concluding a seven-hour journey from Tokyo, Japan. He was received by Indonesian Military Commander General Agus Subiyanto and Chief of INP Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. During his working visit to Japan, President Jokowi made his mark at various forums, including the Summit Commemorating 50 Years of ASEAN-Japan Friendly Relations and Cooperation. Emphasizing shared visions, he detailed plans for future collaborations, underscoring a commitment to strengthen cooperation in vital sectors such as the economy, education, food, and energy security. "(We are collaborating) to enhance food and energy security through agricultural technology, promote investment and technology transfer, accelerate digital transformation by upgrading and retraining human resources, and improve digital connectivity, particularly for MSMEs," said President Jokowi during a joint press statement with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio at the Okura Hotel in Tokyo on Sunday (17/12/23). The President reiterated a robust commitment to peace and stability, with both ASEAN and Japan committing to inclusive cooperation, respect for international law, and the fortification of ASEAN centrality. Expressing confidence in the lasting impact of the ASEAN-Japan partnership on regional stability, President Jokowi emphasized the role of the friendship, stating, "In the spirit of friendship, I believe that the partnership between ASEAN and Japan can continue to contribute to maintaining stability and peace, bringing people closer together, and promoting economic growth in the region and the world."
