Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian National Police (INP) is offering parking facilities at police stations for individuals traveling during the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 holidays to secure their vehicles. This facility is part of the INP's efforts to ensure the safety of people celebrating Christmas and the New Year, said  Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of the Public Information Bureau of the INP Public Relations Division on Monday (18/12/2023), antaranews.com reported.
"The INP encourages individuals whose homes will be vacant due to travel to report to the nearest police station so that they can be documented, and patrols can be conducted," he said. The INP is conducting Operation Lilin 2023 for 12 days, starting from 22 December 2023  to 2 January 2024 involving 129,923 combined personnel from the INP, the Indonesian Military, and related agencies. In addition, the INP has set up 2,451 posts, including security posts, service posts, and integrated posts. The INP has predicted the peak of the Christmas and New Year travel flow will occur on 22, 23, 29, and 30 December 2023. "The INP ensures the mobility of the public runs smoothly, and of course, the INP also has the duty to secure the Christian community celebrating Christmas," the INP spokesperson said. Furthermore, General Ramadhan said that during the New Year's Eve celebration, people will engage in activities in crowded places such as shopping centers and entertainment hubs. "For this reason, extra security is necessary at gathering points to create a sense of security for those celebrating Christmas and the New Year's Eve," he said. The INP has predicted the movement of people to be around 107.63 million individuals and 2.88 million vehicles leaving Jakarta during the Christmas and New Year holidays. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
