Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto issued a stern directive to Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia on Wednesday (8/4/2026), demanding a comprehensive evaluation of hundreds of Mining Business Licenses (IUP) allegedly operating illegally within protected forest zones.
"We no longer have time for pity; evaluate these hundreds of licenses immediately and revoke them if they violate the law to protect national interests," hes aid during a high-level government briefing reported by antaranews.com.
The President gave the ministry a strict one-week deadline to report the findings, rejecting an initial request for a two-week window. This crackdown is part of a broader administrative push to eliminate favoritism and ensure natural resource management prioritizes the public welfare over group or family interests.
During the same assembly of 800 top-tier officials, the President also praised the Ministry of Forestry for its commitment to halting new logging permits, signaling a reinforced stance on environmental conservation and regulatory integrity.
