Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto issued detailed technical instructions to the Food Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) kitchens following a food poisoning outbreak from the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program that sickened more than 5,000 children.
“Right after landing in Jakarta, the President immediately summoned several ministers to address MBG, especially on safety improvements. The priority is the safety of our children,” said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi after a closed meeting with the President at his private residence on Sunday night (28/9/2025), as reported by antaranws.com.
The government confirmed 70 food safety incidents linked to MBG between January and September, affecting 5,914 recipients across Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara. Tests identified bacterial contamination, including E. coli, salmonella, and staphylococcus aureus, as the main causes.
President Prabowo ordered immediate reforms in hygiene discipline and food safety management, with follow-up coordination led by the Coordinating Minister for Food at the Ministry of Health.
