Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A massive fire swept through Tangki, Tamansari, West Jakarta on Sunday, destroying around 400 homes and leaving 1,129 residents from 320 households homeless.
“Up until now, we have not been able to set up tents because the fire reignited several times,” said Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) spokesperson Mohamad Yohan on Sunday night (28/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
At least seven people were injured, reportedly during chaotic evacuations, and have been taken to nearby hospitals. Authorities estimate material losses at more than Rp 35 billion.
Emergency crews from the city’s Fire and Rescue Agency worked into the night to extinguish flare-ups, with the final blaze declared under control at around 23:09 local time.
Relief supplies, including ready-to-eat meals, drinking water, and children’s necessities, have been distributed. Two tents are prepared for survivors, pending clearance from fire authorities. Many displaced residents are temporarily sheltering with relatives or neighbors as the local government prepares temporary housing.
