Inp.polri.go.id - Malang. President Prabowo Subianto has announced plans to establish SMA Garuda high schools, a new network of senior high schools designed to complement the existing SMA Taruna Nusantara high school system and expand access to high-quality education across Indonesia.
Speaking during the inauguration of SMA Taruna Nusantara High School’s Malang campus in East Java on Tuesday (13/1/2026), he said the government is targeting the creation of 20 SMA Garuda schools nationwide.
“We will establish around 20 additional schools under the name SMA Garuda,” the President said, as quoted by antaranews.com
He explained that SMA Garuda will adopt a similar philosophy to SMA Taruna Nusantara by selecting top students and providing intensive education focused on science, technology, leadership, and character building.
The initiative follows up President Prabowo’s vision of having at least one high quality public school in every province as part of a broader national strategy to strengthen human capital and long-term competitiveness.
