inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed all ranks of the Riau Regional Police to respond quickly if they discover new hotspots or fire points for forest and land fires in Bumi Lancang Kuning.
According to General Sigit, a swift response to extinguish these hotspots is necessary to prevent the fires from spreading. The instruction was delivered after receiving a presentation on forest and land fire management at the Pandawa VIP Building at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base, Riau, on Thursday (7/24/2025).
"Indeed, several efforts have been made from the beginning, including prevention, education, outreach, and of course, efforts to continuously activate our applications for continuous monitoring, and of course, we hope for a rapid response when hotspots are identified," explained General Sigit.
In his presentation, General Sigit mentioned that several efforts have been made by the Indonesian National Military (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (INP), and other relevant elements in the process of extinguishing the forest and land fires. This includes utilizing firefighting equipment owned by the Task Force and possibly utilizing equipment owned by companies.
"However, on the other hand, I saw that the hotspots are still there, which is why water bombing and modifications to the TMC are being used," said General Sigit.
In this regard, General Sigit emphasized the importance of preventing additional hotspots.
"Therefore, it is certainly crucial to prevent additional hotspots, especially those that arise intentionally," said General Sigit.
