Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has questioned two wives of Surabaya District Court judges as witnesses in the bribery investigation surrounding the acquittal of murder convict Ronald Tannur.

Harli Siregar, the  AGO’s Head of Legal Information, confirmed that the wives, identified as RS the wife of Judge Erintuah Damanik and MP the wife of Judge Mangapul, were summoned for questioning.

“They were questioned as witnesses to strengthen the investigation,” Harli said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The case centers on Meirizka Widjaja, Ronald’s mother, who allegedly bribed officials to secure her son's acquittal in a case involving the fatal assault of Ronald’s girlfriend, Dini Sera Afrianti.

According to AGO’s investigation, Meirizka paid up to Rp 3.5 billion to officials. It included Rp 1.5 billion paid in installments to legal advisor Lisa Rahmat, who partnered with former Supreme Court official Zarof Ricar to influence the judge selection.

Ronald’s case became a national scandal, prompting further investigations into judicial corruption. Meirizka faces charges under Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Law.
