Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has installed an additional 103 surveillance cameras, including face recognition technology, to enhance safety at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.
PSSI President Erick Thohir emphasized the importance of security, particularly when Indonesia’s national football team hosts international teams, such as Japan and Saudi Arabia, in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
"We’ve invested in 103 additional CCTV units, with advanced features to ensure safety, as this is a top priority," he told reporters after inspecting the stadium’s pitch in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (8/11/2024).
Erick also highlighted the growing stature of the Indonesian national team, noting their upcoming matches against top-tier teams like Japan and Saudi Arabia, underscoring the need for stringent security measures.
FIFA and AFC officials will also inspect the stadium’s security and safety protocols ahead of future international matches, with Erick saying the possibility of hosting more high-profile teams such as the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain.
Indonesia will face Japan on 15 November 2024. and Saudi Arabia on 19 November 2024.
