inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism is focusing the development of the tourism sector through Event by Indonesia and tourism villages programs in 2026 to encourage inclusive growth and equitable development.

The Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, stated that the Ministry of Tourism is implementing five flagship programs in 2026: improving travel safety, quality tourism, Event by Indonesia, tourism villages, and Tourism 5.0.

"In the context of inclusive growth and equitable development, the two main focus programs are tourism villages and Event by Indonesia," said Qodari on Wednesday (6/17/2026).

He explained that under the tourism village program, the government is not only encouraging an increase in the number of tourism villages but also the quality of their management. Currently, there are more than 6,200 tourism villages spread across Indonesia.

Quality improvement is being carried out through various certification programs, including halal certification in collaboration with the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH). As of May 29, 2026, 31,548 certifications had been issued in 1,116 tourist villages.

Furthermore, the government provided management assistance and collaborated with various strategic partners.

"As a result, the 50 tourist villages that received assistance at the 2024 Indonesian Tourism Village Award recorded a 44.8 percent increase in visits, from 1.6 million to 2.32 million visits, with revenues increasing by 29.41 percent, from IDR 46 billion to IDR 59.6 billion," explained the Head of Bakom Qodari.

Meanwhile, through the Event by Indonesia program, he continued, the Ministry of Tourism supports the organization of various regional events through the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program.

He stated that in 2025, the program successfully organized 98 events that attracted 10.8 million visitors. The activity generated an economic turnover of IDR 7 trillion, involved 15,400 MSMEs, and provided benefits to 219,100 workers, artists, and communities.

Qodari revealed that as of June 15, 2026, 38 activities had been held, attracting 1.19 million visitors, generating an economic turnover of IDR 86 billion, involving 4,670 MSMEs, and benefiting 30,873 workers, artists, and communities.

In addition to these two programs, the Ministry of Tourism is also implementing the Tourism 5.0 program through the launch of the artificial intelligence platform Maya, or Meticulous Artificial Intelligence of Indonesia, based on official data from the Wonderful Indonesia ecosystem and the Ministry of Tourism.
