inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Jakarta has determined several prone issues ahead of the Governor Election, including the issues of tribes, religion, and race, which has plagued the previous elections.
“Our experience in the past Governor Election is that it was plagued with campaigns that tended to divide the community,” said the Community Participation and Prevention Division Coordinator, Burhanuddin on Friday (8/2/2024).
He reveals that Bawaslu has mapped three prone issues in Jakarta Governor Election from high, medium, to low. Burhanuddin says that the matter of racism has become the most concerning issue ahead of the election.
Such cases are campaigning to not vote for certain candidates due to them belonging from certain tribes, religion, or race. Another case is campaigning not in accordance with the law, such as black campaign and spreading misinformation in public spaces and social media.
“The composition of election candidates determines the topic and conversation in public, particularly in social media,” concludes Burhanuddin.
