inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Home Affairs Minister, Muhammad Tito Karnavian assures there are no voter data leaks in the 2024 Regional Head Election. The statement was conveyed during the Work Meeting with the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission II in discussing 2025 work programs and latest issues.
In his statement, the former Indonesian National Police Chief guarantees the security of Regional Head Election voter data. The data itself is managed by the Director General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He explained that the data has been encrypted, and the data security system is continuously updated to avoid data leaks.
“We have submitted the potential voter list to the General Election Commission Chair on May 2nd, 2024 with the total voters for the Simultaneous Regional Head Election reaching 207 million. We also encrypted the data to avoid data leaks,” says Tito on Thursday (10/31/2024).
However, if there are data leaks on the Regional Head Election voter list, then it would be occurred on the General Election Commission, as the ministry has submitted the data to them.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has previously made efforts to anticipate data leaks, but securing data at the KPU is not the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
