The forest and land fire response efforts took place from approximately 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, involving joint personnel from the police and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
According to a report by Second Police Inspector Jenni Andriyanto, fires were observed in three locations: KTM 1, with an affected area of approximately 2 hectares, KTM 2, with approximately 0.5 hectares, and the Danau Biru area with approximately 2 hectares.
During the response process, officers extinguished and cooled the fires to ensure the fires did not reignite. Approximately 0.5 hectares of land in KTM 1, 0.5 hectares in KTM 2, and 1 hectare in Danau Biru were successfully contained by officers. After a series of extinguishing operations and field inspections, the fires were reported to be completely extinguished.
During the extinguishing process, officers encountered no significant obstacles, enabling optimal handling.
The Chief of Operations for Aman Nusa II, Senior Superintendent Ridwan Raja Dewa, stated that personnel preparedness and cross-agency coordination are key to expediting the handling of forest and land fires.
"We continue to optimize the deployment of personnel and infrastructure, especially in vulnerable areas like Ogan Ilir. Every hotspot must be addressed immediately to prevent it from spreading and causing a greater impact on the community and the environment," said Ridwan.
He emphasized that the Aman Nusa II Task Force will continue to monitor, patrol, extinguish, and cool areas prone to fires, including ensuring that extinguished hotspots do not reignite.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, stated that the South Sumatra Regional Police are committed to continuing to provide protection to the public while preserving the environment from the threat of forest and land fires.
"We ensure that all forest and land fire management operations are carried out optimally. Every report or discovery of a hotspot will be followed up immediately so that potential fires can be controlled as early as possible," said Nandang.
The South Sumatra Regional Police also urge all communities and corporations to increase their vigilance during the forest and land fire-prone season and to refrain from clearing or clearing land by burning.
