inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, stated that the government's rice reserve stock (CBP) has reached 4.3 million tons, a swift step taken by Indonesia to maintain food security amidst global geopolitical dynamics.

"Today we have reached the highest rice stock in our history as it reached 4.3 million tons. This has never happened before. Last year's maximum was 4.2 million tons. Today it's 4.3 million tons. Moreover, next month (it could reach) 5 million tons. The warehouse capacity is 3 million tons, and we are renting a warehouse with a capacity of 2 million tons," explained Andi, Monday (3/30/2026).

Achieving Indonesia's rice self-sufficiency by 2025 is one strategy in facing global geopolitical dynamics. He emphasized that Indonesia must be able to stand on its own two feet, as envisioned by President Prabowo Subianto, to become a sovereign and independent nation, including in the food sector.

"In times of geopolitical tension, we need swift action. The President is truly a visionary. When he was inaugurated, he immediately stated that food security must be resolved, that we must be self-sufficient in food and energy," he said.

According to Andi, the government's rice reserves, managed by the State Logistics Agency, reached a record high of 4.3 million tons in March of this year. He confirmed that the CBP quantity would increase in the following months due to the continued absorption of equivalent domestically produced rice.

Bapanas recorded that CBP acquisition at the end of March 2026 reached 4.3 million tons, a significant increase of 274.9 percent compared to CBP in March 2024. At that time, CBP in March 2024 was still at 1.1 million tons, with domestic rice procurement reaching around 24,600 tons.

Meanwhile, CBP stocks in March 2025 also increased by 87.3 percent. This is because, according to Bapanas (National Rice Agency) records, the CBP in March 2025 was around 2.3 million tons, with domestic rice procurement reaching around 610,200 tons.

The strong CBP stock, which prioritizes the absorption of domestic rice production, also contributes to the stability of rice inflation.
