Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Aceh Besar Prosecutor's Office sought seven-year prison terms for Rohingya immigrant ship captain Mohammed Amin and six years for assistants Anisul Hoque and Habibul Basyar.
During the trial, held at the Jantho District Court in Aceh Besar on Tuesday (7/5/2024), the team of prosecutors led by Muhammad Rizza, made allegations of the defendants’ roles in the smuggling 134 Rohingya immigrants into Indonesia via Blang Ulam Beach in December 2023.
The defendants were accused of violating immigration procedures and charging immigrants between 100,000 and 200,000 Bangladeshi Takas for the journey.
The prosecutors demanded fines of Rp 1 billion for Amin and Rp 500 million each for Hoque and Basyar.
The defendants are charged under Article 120 (1) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on immigration in conjunction with Article 55 (1) of the Indonesian Criminal Code.
