Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Customary Council of Sarmi Regency, Papua supports the implementation of Sail Teluk Cenderawaaih (STC) which is scheduled to take place in the area on September 19-23, 2023.
Secretary of the Sarmi Regency Customary Council Adrianus Sewanso in Jayapura, Friday, said that the potential of the area can be recognized by the wider community through STC, whose organization is expected to have a positive impact on the progress of the region nicknamed 1,001 waves.
"STC is a prospect to advance Sarmi Regency in the future so that this will also be an example for other regions in Papua," he said as reported by antaranews.com
Sarmi Indigenous women's representative Paulina Tromowey said she hoped that the STC event would not only be a ceremonial event but also an event to promote products produced by women in the area.
"We have terfo (shawl) made by Sarmi women and typical food from the five major tribes in Sarmi Regency that need to be introduced," she said, adding that the implementation of STC is expected to open up economic opportunities for Sarmi indigenous women and promote the products of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the area.
