inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Digital will implement the Content Moderation Compliance System (SAMAN) in suppressing the spread of illegal content.

Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Viada Hafid, stated that the system will start running in February.

She explained that the system will be embedded in the organizer of the electronic User Generated Content (PSE UGC) system in Indonesia. This is one of the government's efforts to create a healthy and safe digital space.

"SAMAN will be implemented in February to suppress the spread of illegal content on digital platforms. Protection of the public, especially children from pornography, gambling and illegal online loans is our top priority in realizing a safe and healthy digital space," Meutya said on Friday (1/24/2025).

Meutya also emphasized that her party would not hesitate to take action against applicators who do not implement the system, as based on the Decree of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology number 522 of 2024, PSE UGC, can be subject to takedown sanctions up to administrative fines.

She said that in implementing the regulation, her party had conducted a comparison study along with the development of digital technology. Meutya even admitted that the implementation of SAMAN was apparently effective in suppressing negative content in a number of global countries.
