Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. Indonesian authorities officially ended the search operation for a missing Spanish national following the KM Putri Sakinah sinking in Labuan Bajo waters, Manggarai Barat, NTT, on 26 December 2025.

“Yes, the operation is officially closed as of today,” said Fathur Rahman, the SAR Mission Coordinator, Friday (9/1/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The 15-day operation, led by a joint SAR team and closed by West Barat Regent Edi Stasius Endi at Labuan Bajo Marina Port, successfully recovered three of four victims. Among them were a Spanish woman, Fernando Martin Carreras, who was the coach of Valencia Women’s Football Team, and his 10-year-old son. The remaining victim, Martines Ortuno Enriquejavier, was not found.

The SAR team expanded the search area, deployed sonar equipment, and involved divers, yet the last victim remains missing. Authorities emphasized that the operation could resume if new leads emerge.
