Inp.polri.go.id - Labuan Bajo. A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team has evacuated the body of a foreign tourist who died from exhaustion while swimming at Pink Beach, Labuan Bajo, in Komodo National Park, Manggarai Barat, East Nusa Tenggara.
The Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency in Maumere, SUpriyanto Ridwan, said on SUnday (11/8/2024) that the tourist, identified as Liu James Hou Fu, a 62-year-old male from New Zealand, was found to have drowned after swimming to the beach despite warnings from the boat crew to use a lifeboat.
The tourist, traveling on the "Cahaya Lusia" Phinisi boat, swam from the vessel to Pink Beach but became fatigued and lost consciousness, according to antaranews.com.
Rescue efforts commenced when SAR teams received the report and arrived at the scene around 10.50 am local time. The body was then transported to Siloam Hospital Labuan Bajo for further examination.
